The Elim Bank Hotel is situated in Bowness-On-Windermere, which for a small villiage boasts a marvellous array of places to eat, places to drink and things to do.
Within ten minutes walk from the hotel you will find restaurants serving traditional English food (Sutherlands, Gibby's), contemporary English cuisine (Stephan's, The Postillian, The Porthole, The Spinnery, Jackson's Bistro), Italian (Messina's Ristorante, Rastelli's, Villa Positano), Greek (Nissi Taverna), Indian (The Emperor of India), Thai (Jintana), Swiss-Italian (Tratoria), Chinese (The China Boat, Jade Delight, The Royal Tea Garden, Golden Fortune) and American. If a restaurant meal isn't what you are looking for there are many good pubs and cafe's that serve food throughout the day such as The Two Eggcups, The Alpine, The Villiage Inn, Bowness Kitchen, The Ship Inn, The Hole in't Wall and the Bodega Bar. Of course if you're just looking for a drink there are more than enough pubs to satisfy all tastes.
When you're not eating or drinking there are many things to do and see - all within walking distance of the hotel. A firm favourite on most visitor's lists is a cruise on the Lake. You can either do this at your leisure on one of the many Boats which journey up and down the Lake or, if you're feeling energetic, rowing and sail boats can be hired.
Should you take a steamboat cruise to the south of Bowness - to Lakeside - you can visit the Aquarium of the Lakes or even take a Steam Railway ride along the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. A cruise to the northern end of the Lake takes you to Ambleside.
Another firm favourite for the younger visitor is The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction. Here you can immerse yourself in the wonderful creations of the Lake District author. If you are in your car a short trip over the Windermere Car Ferry across the Lake will take you to Hilltop - Beatrix Potter's house, where she wrote many of her classic childrens books.
For lovers of shopping there are many great shops in the villages of Bowness and Windermere - from high street favourites to specialist boutiques, from high fashion to outdoor leisure gear.
In the evenings, apart from the many restaurants, bars and pubs there is the Royalty 3-screen cinema and the Old Laundry Theatre which runs its annual Autumn drama, dance, comedy and music festival from mid-September to mid-November.
All-in-all, there is something to suit everyone's taste just minutes walk from the front door of the Elim Bank Hotel.
